The books starts a bit slow talking about very obvious things such as locations for containers (window sills, indoor, outdoor), container varieties (size, depth). The discussion of potting soil is just a recommendation to buy potting soil mix. I hoped of a discussion of how to work the soil, so it stays usable year after year. The books has one section that was a little more interesting - the section about natural pest deterrents. The self-watering chapter does not mention drip irrigation which is effective and cheap and is my option for container gardening. I like reading books about container gardening to pick up new ideas. This book did not have any new ideas, it is very obvious and basic.Ali Julia review

Was hoping for a more detailed guide - it's very short - but a decent starting point. Nothing you couldn't find online.

would totally recommend this book for anyone wanting to start an urban garden! Quick, easy, and fun to read with useful tips, advice and checklists to getting started. Definitely worth its value for such a quick start and comprehensive guide to urban gardening.
Fun and enjoyable read as I discovered a whole new world of container gardening out there. I'm totally a newbie and this book is just the right sort of guide to help me navigate a new hobby step by step. Love the checklist at the end of each chapter, one just need to follow it. Gives me confidence I can start a small windowsill project soon.
Although I'm not an absolute beginners but I didn't know that there are other interesting and natural alternatives you can use to get rid of your pests. Besides, I couldn't agree more with the checklist part. It really helps to summarize what I needed for me to pickup back my gardening skills)
I live in the city, and therefore I don't have a garden. This book taught me how to start growing plants, especially some vegetables like cherry tomatoes and cucumber in my apartment, without the need of a garden! This book also teaches you how
To make your plants survive, as I have the problem of not having plants that survive! Finally, this book teaches you how to make pickles, which I really enjoy eating, especially with tomatoes!
